Catherine Bowers – Biography
Creating music from the tapestry of life experience, Catherine Bowers is one of a select group of artists currently under development with Vancouver’s Studio Cloud 30.
Catherine began singing in community choirs and in amateur musical productions. In university, she sang and wrote in a student rock band, but never seriously considered pursuing a career in music.
In the ‘80s Catherine worked as an executive in the cosmetic industry, followed by a stint as a peace officer in the ‘90s for the federal government. In ‘94, she married, became a full-time stepmother to her husband's two children, and gave birth to a daughter in 1997.
In 2005, Catherine retired and determined to only do things in her life that brought her joy.
Catherine returned to music, taking singing lessons from three incredible song stylists and writers, Dawn Pemberton, Aileen De La Cruz and Warren Flandez. Furthering her renewed connection to the spiritual side of music, Catherine became a member of a 100-piece Soul Gospel Choir.
Since February of 2008, Catherine has concentrated her musical efforts writing and co-writing an impressive catalogue ranging from inspirational ballads to kick-ass country tunes.
Catherine released two CDs in the Fall of 2009. The EP, “No, It Ain't Over Yet” features seven tunes written and performed by Catherine (featuring Dani Fuentes on “I Needed an Angel”). “Going To The Good Side” is a full length compilation CD that introduces Catherine’s growing songwriting catalogue and showcases some of Vancouver’s finest female vocalists.
Starting off the new year, Catherine performed during the Vancouver Olympics at Lonsdale Quay’s Winterfest and will be travelling to Toronto for MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Drivers) Canada’s National Candlelit Vigil of Hope and Remembrance April 24th, 2010. Catherine will be performing “Everywhere” a song written specifically for MADD.
Catherine will be performing locally in coffee houses and music festivals in the spring and summer of 2010. Watch for a major concert announcement for the fall.
